Christ Returneth

Has there ever been a time in your life where you felt you needed God? Perhaps it was a time of struggles, hardship, sickness or death?

Maybe it is now!

Many people turn to God only when the hard times come. I am guilty of this as well. It is not unusual, just our sinful human nature.

Did you know that the Lord wants to be in our lives? He loves it when we acknowledge him, and give him praise. However, many times we don’t feel it necessary to have God in our life. Often we find it inconvenient to have a relationship with God. After all, being close to God requires certain things of us. Going to faith, church, helping others, obeying his commandments, doing his will. Many people lack the understanding and faith that if we just take time for God he will take care of the rest.

Perhaps there is something else holding you back? Many people feel that they don’t deserve a relationship with God because of things that they have done, sins they have committed, people they have hurt, the life they have led.

Other times people are angry with God, because they feel He has let them down. Sometimes bad things happen to good people, even to Christians. Hardship is just one of Gods ways of getting our attention. Sometimes we need to have pain in our life to remind us that he wants to be there for us. He wants us to rely on him, not our sinful nature, and false sense of security.

Just as a child needs to be punished when they do something wrong, we need to be punished when we break God’s laws. It is the only way that we learn good from bad, right from wrong. If we don’t listen to God, sometimes he has no choice but to punish us. He doesn’t want to, but that is the way it has to be.

Therefore we can either learn from our mistakes and trust God or continue along the same broken path.
